I was first introduced to the world of antiques and curios by George when I was 14 years old, he would often bring to the family home items of interest such as furniture, silver, militaria, porcelain, pictures and paintings. The items were almost endless.
My interest in antiques continued as a hobby in my adult years and eventually became a full-time occupation within a shop, around 1985. Alongside the day-to-day running of the shop, we also had a regular pitch at Bell Street Market, off the Edgware Road.
Within a year I started working for myself, continuing to sell at Bell Street Market along with Camden Passage, Brighton Market, Spitalfields and eventually in my own shop. Unfortunately, a mortgage and a wife forced me to take a proper job (hahaha), but they never stopped me from buying and selling to this day. Our paths may have already crossed in the past whilst on your hunt for antiques if you ever frequented the Townsford Mill Antiques Centre, Halstead, The Old House, Billingshurst or maybe on a Sunday morning at Battlesbridge Antiques Centre.
George lit the spark, and as my late father I will always be eternally grateful.
